Team and Group Coaching

Team and Group Coaching

Team Coaching

Team Coaching refers to resolving the shared issues of a team, involving every member of staff including the manager. Team coaching is about the following,

  • A participative process drawing from the collective intelligence of the team
  • The team works to find its own answers and strategies
  • The coach works with the whole team
  • Coach enables the team to create new ways of thinking, improve their collective performance, their way of functioning and the interaction with their key stakeholders
  • Coach acts as a facilitator of the process leading to a solution

Group Coaching

Group coaching is done within organizations for managers from different departments, with different focuses, skill development and length of time as a manager. It can be thought of as peer coaching and is reflective in nature. Some of forum of reflections may be around

  • Exchange of challenges and ongoing strategies
  • Specific questions that need to be answered or dealt with in their daily worklife,
  • Or some skills development e.g. communications, presentations, relationships, creativity
  • Or confidence building
  • Or developing more personal effectiveness
  • Or cross fertilization of idea sharing and brainstorming

Process

  1. Meeting with the Manager and the team to discuss what might be the objectives of the coaching contract
  2. Polling the groups needs
  3. Develop a contract with the organization
  4. Design a path forward with the Manager, head of the team and/or co-coach
  5. Begin sessions with the team
  6. Length of time – 20 – 30 hours over 4 – 6 months
