Biography
Native born of Romania, Simone Grigorescu-Alexander competed for many years as a national competitor. After earning her U.S. citizenship she went on to earn a well-deserved placement as an Olympic alternate for the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid, NY. Soon after, Simone turned professional and went on to capture the 1984 World Professional Championship title in Jaca, Spain which launched her lucrative career as a show performer.
Among Simone’s skating credits as a performer were such prestigious touring shows as the Ice Capades and World Cup Champions on Ice. Wanting to pursue her creative talent and passion, Simone went on to assist award-winning choreographer Kevin Cottam with shows such as Walt Disney’s World on Ice and Xotika, an innovative Holiday on Ice production. This prepared her to take on full responsibility as lead choreographer for such productions as Gershwin on Ice for the A&E Channel, the national tour of Nutcracker on Ice, Ice Fantastique for Bush Gardens, World Rhythms on Ice for Sea World San Diego and an original production of A Christmas Carol for the Ice Castle theater of Myrtle Beach.
In 2008 Simone was proud to choreograph the skating production, Country on the Rocks for Hard Rock Park. Later this same year the production was awarded the Big E IAAPA award for best show in its category.
Recent work includes another collaboration with Kevin Cottam for Holiday on Ice on the creatively progressive skating production Energia. In 2009, Simone also choreographed for the Friedrichstadt Palast of Berlin and Phantasialand theme park in Bruhl, Germany.
2011 finds Simone working on a new production for the" WOW" show of Elat, Israel.
Simone looks forward to continuing her creative passion while bringing beauty and inspiration to the world through artistry on ice.
