The Power of an Athletic Challenge
Building your Legacy: Your Relationship with Responsibility
Topic 1: The Power of an Athletic Challenge
As an ex-choreographer/trainer to National, World, Olympic champions and competitors, it has become more and more obvious that reaching excellence and success in sports is paralleled with that of the Corporate and Public Sector ‘Athletes’. What are the ingredients of this challenge for success? One of these ingredients is connecting to your inside environment and spirit – i.e. the incredible focus it takes to get to your destination, goal or outcomes.
The audience will have a chance to engage with others and interact in some visualization -the sportsman’s key to the finish line and other exercises. They will come away with some focusing tools and the realization that the process of a high performing athlete(s) in individuals and team sports is very specific and focused. This process takes great awareness of leading from within and sensing the importance of balancing the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual intelligences.

Topic 2: Your Relationship with Legacy
Based on my book, Mother’s Pearls…27 Aha Moments of Realization, Legacy is one of the chapters that speaks about the importance of creating a legacy and how you can begin to manifest it in your life today. Legacies are not just for successful and influential people that we see or read about in the press or history books. I am specifically speaking about your Legacy you wish create and the relationship you want with it.
When people come to an Aha moment in their lives a flash of light of awareness appears. This is the seed for you to engage and discover the learning or wisdom point behind the Aha. The single wisdom words or Pearls in this speech are Legacy and Relationships. In this speech there is a strong tie between the Legacy you want to leave or give and the relationship you want to have with it to make it come to fruition.
What is a Legacy? What does Legacy mean to you? How important is it to you to leave a Legacy? How do you create a Legacy? These are some very important questions that inspire us to live a life of excellence.
It may be that leaving a Legacy is not important to you, yet my sense is that you are leaving legacies whether you recognize this or not. Legacies can be as simple as saving enough money to put your children through University or do philanthropic work with a children's foundation and more.
Legacies can be related to any part of your life whether it be health, money, work, family, friends and more. All these Legacies are in relationship that you have with yourself and others. To become conscious and aware of what Legacy you want to leave, will inspire you to move towards it with passion, focus and vision.
As we approach the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, Legacy is an important part of their existence. In my speech I shall relate to my 1988 Olympic experience as the Director and Choreographer of the Closing Ceremonies and what a mark this has left on my life and the people that I have worked with.
Woven through the speech are stories, learning’s, questions and interactive exercises to engage the audience in addressing the subject in a more personal manner. Creating and living a life with a Legacy awareness is a relationship that you want to develop with purpose.
What is/are the Legacy or Legacies you want to create and leave? What type of relationship do you want to experience?
